Sesame Street turns 40

This year, Sesame Street and all of its beloved characters celebrate their 40th birthday.
Sesame Street is one of the most loved American children's educational television show. The show has introduced us to some of the best loved characters. Big Bird, Elmo, Oscar the Grouch, and Bert and Ernie are the show's signature Muppets characters which were created by Jim Henson. These characters and their personalities are the show's main attractions, yet Sesame Street also uses live actors and animation to produce the program. Sesame Street premiered on November 10, 1969. The goal of the show was to provide education and entertainment to its young viewers. For 40 years, they have perfected that exact goal. Sesame Street is responsible for teaching thousands of children their ABC's. Today, Sesame Street is the longest running children's television program in the United States. Sesame Street is produced by the non-profit organization, Sesame Workshop.
